Wee Willy’s BBQ SAUCE

Good ole boy's BBQ sauce options

I'm not that into BBQ or smoked meats. Unlike the true grit, bbq bible crowds who are pretty opinionated about sauces and rubs, I'm open to fusion flavors. I like Morrocan spices or coconut milk-based BBQ sauces. But, of course, I do have an opinion on the good ole boy's BBQ sauce options. My favorite sauce, and (as usual for me) it's not the most universally liked kind of sauce. I love South or North Carolina Sauce. Vinegary, peppery, and the South a bit of mustard. Sorry, Kenny Davis, never been a fan.

Actual Porch pulled pork… be still my heart!

Justin made my very favorite BBQ sauce when we had Porch. It had a big mustard flavor to it as well. Hardly anyone liked it but him and me, so there's that. He ended up adding a sweet, smoky, purchased sauce, as one to the selections. Haha, got to appease the masses.

I'm lucky enough to have Justin in the family to help smoke any meat we may have on July 4th. This year we are doing chicken. But I don't need him to work harder on the sauce cuz I found one we both love!

I’m lucky to have Justin in the family!

A few years ago, at Elden's in Alexandria, MN, I grabbed an array of BBQ sauces. They were on an end cap, did their job, and caught my attention. I didn't have high expectations, but Wee Willy's BBQ Sauces are fantastic! Of course, my choice was the North Carolina sauce, but I also like the White BBQ, which we will be serving with the chicken this year!

At Hyvee Barlows it’s by the meat counter.

Here are some of the deets from their website, and guess what? Wee Willy's is a MN business and available at Hyvee.

Wee Willy's is an award-winning sauce! The prestigious Jack Daniel's World Championship Barbecue is held in Lynchburg, Tennessee. In 2003, this brand won the title! High fives, MN! Who knew?!

Wee Willy's is made in small batches, they say, the old-fashioned way. They ensure that "each batch has time to develop its signature, homemade taste, just like mom."

Bill and Lana, the husband and wife team, had an appearance on a Food Network BBQ special. AND Bon Appétit Magazine recognized Wee Willy's BBQ Sauce as a top-five pick in the country. Now that is some cool stuff.

Since winning the top slot in 2003, Bill and Lana have been honored to judge the world's best bbq at The Jack.

The North and South Carolina sauce is perfect for pulled pork. It works as a mop sauce and a sauce, oh, and put it a bit in your coleslaw; double delicious!

For the White Dipping BBQ Sauce, ketchup is replaced with mayo. Well, who doesn't love mayo?!

Here’s I made a pulled chicken sandwich with North Carolina sauce but it may just get dipped too!

The Original, which I believe to be the award winner, is sweet, tangy pepper, hickory MN style. I'm going to put it out there, but I think this could be for you Kenny Davis lovers. Although, I'm not sure I'm too sold on the North Carolina!

What else am I serving with my chicken? Well, it's also my little Lulu's 4th birthday, and she loves Mac and Cheese, So I'm trying this version stove top to not overheat the kitchen!

Happy birthday Little LU!

Watermelon and chocolate cake with a unicorn, rainbows, and a fairy (fingers crossed) will finish off the festivities!

Happy 4th!
